Title: wheel clearance
Post by: 71RatPinto on January 04, 2006, 06:50:37 PM
Can anyone tell me what's the maximum wheel size that will clear the fenders, front and rear? I've seen several nice rims, such as the Bullit, Pony, and Cobra with the same bolt pattern (4x4.25) as a Pinto but they're all 16" and up. I'd appreciate any help.

I am fairly certain the largest rim you could run on the front would be 7" wide with 1/2" negative
offset. I have 15 X 7, 1/2" neg offset with 225/50X15 in the front of a lowered pinto w/o rubbing
issues. Rear is the same with o" offset but a much larger tire will fit. I think a 9" wide tire will fit in
a rear wheel well w/o modifications.

I don't have personal experience with 16" rims but I would think they would work as long as the
offset is same as above and not more than 7" wide in front. I think Pintony has 16's on his Pinto so
he will hopefully reply.

Thanks Bob. I feel more confident now about looking into purchasing some nice shiny rims!
