I picked up what supposedly is the correct kit to replace the plastic rag joint in a '74 Runabout. There's a whole baggie full of different threaded studs, bolts, washers, nuts, and an instruction sheet that doens't look *quite* right.
Does anyone have a pic of how all this looks once it's together? I should have taken a pic bfore I took the old broken disc out a couple of months ago, but didn't, and the Haynes manual isn't any help.
Of course this could be the wrong kit, anyone else have an instruction sheet that looks like this?
Thanks-
Paul
I know the one that NAPA says is for a pinto will not fit. Somewhere in this section I posted the part # of the napa one that I have used. When I have done them, I remove the joint from the car, drill out the rivets, and install bolts and lock nuts (with the spacers). It has been a while, but I do remember needing an extra bolt or two. When I was racing a pinto the plastic one broke and I replaced it with a disc I made from an old tire sidewall (looked the same as the $8. one from napa). I might not have ever done this job the "right way", but...

Ahaa...
I ground out the rivets, I just didn't know if ther were rivets to REPLACE it (and they were misssing), or if I should use the included bolts (I like the idea of bolts much better).
And yes, I'm sure there are a lot of tires in China with rag joint-donut holes in the sidewall...
Thanks a lot
