What's required to put a 2.3 in place of the 2.0 in a '74 with C4? Is it a weld-in for frame mounts? Bellhousing? Email at bob_10@comcast.net
I'd also like to know the answer to this question. I'd appreciate it and you'd be helping a dying Pinto. :)
There was a thread conserning this very thing started by another member you might want to search the swap and see what is said there. I know that you need Stepped dowels for the transmission.
I haven't been having that much luck with the search. Maybe I'm just using the wrong words.

Bob55, and all
This swap is one of two regarding the 2.3 into 74 and earlier. The 74 was a new transitional chassis in the engine compartment, and front suspension. The motor mount supports for a 2.3l are to allow for a change in the entire dimension of the width of the front frame and crossmember that was added as the car was made with both engines in 74.
We pre 74 owners who wish to add a 2.3 in place of a 2.0 have to acquire the "special" mounts from a 74 2.3.
There may be a VIN and MFR date issue to find when the pieces were first used.
I'm sure someone knows the correct pieces in this forum.

Another interesting note for '74. The '74 2000cc block I recently pulled from a junkyard automatic car had stepped dowels. I assumed they were factory as this car looked very original. I went through the whole rebuild process and did not notice until my '72 bell would not fit. Luckily, I still had the cracked block with 2000 dowels. Now I have a stepped set for 2.3/C-4 combo if my clutch foot ever gets tired! JT
