Buddy Ingersoll's 4 banger
What...now we're starting on 4 bangers ;) Let the games begin! ;D
Hey GPinto2! Thanks for posting that pic! Brings back a lot of memories! Question I have is this: Does anyone happen to have a pic of Bruce Sizemore's Pinto that he ran in Modified Eliminator in the early to mid 70's?
I realize this post is 4 years old, but I was wondering if anyone noticed the scoop is on the right side of the hood instead of the left. Why is that?
little thunder
Was he using the old style zoop through setup?

Well, with enough power to lift the hoops, it's more than likely a turbo, and on the 2000 (the 2300 too but this is an early one so I am guessing 2000) the turbo is mounted on the right hand side of the car, therefore the air intake is on the right.

Buddy Ingersol is running the Rajay Turbo set-up. It puts the 2.0 turbo through the top of the hood.
This is the set I had on my first Pinto Turbo.
Lots of power once you got the fuel mixture right.
From Pintony
I was just curious because either Buddy or Bruce Sizemore, I think it was Bruce had a 300 six in a pinto and ran I/Gas in it, very radical motor. I used to have the article but don't know if I still do.

REALLY?!? That'd be pretty cool to see.
As I recall they used a pro stock chassis, and used boss 302 or 351 heads( don't recall which} cut them up and brazed them together to fit the six banger. Used 427 tunnel port injectors and they had to make a distributor for it. Run the lenco trans, the article was probably in s/s mag or hot rod mag in the mid or late 70's. Don't think I have it anymore.

Thaty sounds about right. they would use pro stock 351 clevland hards cut up and then welded back tpgether. I understand it was a bitch to get them to seal up and be water tight. but they did make power. I understand now adays you can get a billet head.

when i started working at Ak Millers back in the early '70's he had a early maverick in which he had installed a 300" six with a turbo and propane conversion with a 4-speed. that car (without even trying) would literally snap your neck from the torque

Buddy was running a 2.0 in that car. Thanks to the NHRA It was not intercooled no nitrous and the car weighed almost 3k pounds, thanks to weight factors.Rules killed it,still the car went 8.90 in the quarter and I believe that was in 74.Buddy said he felt he could get the car into the low 8s high 7s if not for all the factors and handicaps levied against him.For some reason Buddy scares the the NHRA and the competition to death. They did the same thing to him with his Buick grand national pro stock 6 cyl.
Looks like a new one being built...
