Title: Fuel line for V8 conversion
Post by: gearhead440 on December 01, 2005, 08:23:27 AM
For those among you who have performed the V8 swap, did you upgrade your fuel line to a larger diameter or use the stock line ???  My 80 has both a fuel line and return line that shunts unused fuel from the pump back to the tank.  I plan to utilize this feature with my V8 also.  I have upgraded fuel lines on other projects by drilling a hole in the sending unit face, installing the increased diameter line, and securing it with JB weld.  Just curious if the stock line was sufficient to support a V8 or required upgrading.  Thanks!

Hey there,
From my sources ive been told that the stock line will support up to 300hp flywheel rating.
3/8 line is i think rated to about 500hp. etc.
Heres a good article to read. Unfourtunatly it requires a subscription to read the whole  article but you can decide later on that.

Thanks for the info, 71, and the article portion was informative.  By the way, did you decide on a color for you hotrod yet?  I remember that you were on the fence between orange and yello.  Anything else shiney to show off?
