Ok I may just be losin my mind, either that or the "Mad Scientist" is comin out in me. BUT wasn't there a mod out there to put a Volvo head on a 2.3? If that's true, then what are the odds of this head being even close to the one on the Focus? Considering Ford now OWNS Volvo.

The new 2.3 head will not fit.
The new Focus 2.3 DOHC uses a timing chain where the Pinto uses a timing belt.

while it shares the same displacement of 2.3l as the old engine, I'm pretty sure nothing else is the same. I do believe that it is a completely new engine design.

Yes, with some work, Volvo heads can be put on the 2.3.
