I appreciate you car experts! Now, a question: we plan to store our pinto for 5-6 months. We are hearing conflicting advice about storing this pinto. Someone told us to start the car once a month and let it run a while. Another guy says don't start it up, just charge the battery once a month. What do you guys say? We purchased a breathable cover for it, and it will be in storage in a garage. Someone told us to put the car windows down a bit to allow for air circulation. We also put a gas additive in before we garaged it. Sign me, Taking care of our Baby here in cold Minnesota!
make sure you remove ALL food stuffs.
Anything that will attract mice.
NO leave the windows UP Mice will climb the cover and hop in the window.

I don't have any mice in my garage, so I would leave the windows down a little bit. If there is a chance you could get a visit from some mice, I could definitely leave the windows up, but open up the car every so often to let the air circulate. I'd also put something in there to absorb moisture from the air. It’s not to cold here, but really wet and my car had a serious mildew problem when I got it.
yes, mice are a problem. especially here in cali. but your in minnesota. here are a few tips for storage, put the car on jack stands to keep the tires from weatering and cracking. plus, starting the motor once in a while wont hurt, and if your car still has good paint, be sure to keep it covered, and dust it off before you wash it. and make sure the car is nice and dry before storing it in your garage, so as any water on the frame rails, door hinges etc; dont cause any rust. and if i were you, i would only put that additive in with less than 1/4 of a tank in the car, or else the gas will varnish, with or without it. anyway hope this is some help keep it rollin!!! ;D
All good advice. Store it with Sta-Bil. CRACK the windows A LITTLE BIT. I stress this because I have mice problems ( dead mice on the consol, hairless baby's on the floor, and papa mice dead between the spare tire and the spare tire well, and god knows what else is living!) And yes, you should start your car and let it run a little while to charge the battery up and get the oil up to the cylinders. Your baby should be fine, just be glad you HAVE a place to store your Pinto!
