Does anyone know if the pinto shared its front suspension with the ford cortina or the taunus. Thanks
Not that I'm a pro at anything but, I'd say that would be difficult to tell. Can't speak for our Canadian frends but, I don't think(correct me if I'm wrong please) those cars made it to the U.S.A.
I think the only suspension sharing was with the Mustang II. Iv'e seen cortinas here....not in good shape or for a long time now, but i don't think they are the same. What about the German Capri?
I can't speak for the Tanus or Cortina (the Cortina design is 4-5years older than the Pinto, and WAS imported to the USA) the german Capri has the same design as the Pinto, but i don't think they're the same thing. The 'StangII is absolutely identical tho.
Interesting side note, the cortina, and Pinto were supposed to have a prototype V4 engine. I think it was a 289 cut in half!!!!!
The Capri did not share front suspention w/Pinto. I've had 4 Capris and they all had struts up front. 71 to 77 capris were the same. I'm not trying to slam anyone , just saving all time in the bone yard.
No slam taken, i shoulda specified the early Capris. I wasn't sure they were the same tho
dont know what parts your after or if you want new a arms stamped or tubular or spindles for pintos and stang 2s
yall might try speedwaymotors.com ....
thats a great site for suspension parts!! Its now in my favorites! Thanks, Jeff
What are the diffs between 71 and 74+ susp.? Does anything interchange?
A'm thinking 71-73 same, 74 and up diffrent think lower arm longer and upper at chassis mount bolt spacing. But do know 74 lower balljoints fit with a little grinding of the strut rod bolt holes that go through the lower arm.
