Title: Timing belt
Post by: Farmboy on November 13, 2005, 09:47:13 PM
OK, I'm just about to swap my 2.3 auto for a good running 2.0 manual in my 74 crusin wagon. All the little stuff is done and I was going to change the timing belt. How is the best way to get the crank pully off. The chilton's manual does not even mention the removal to get the belt on. The motor is on a engine stand.
Also, should a guy change the rear end's to match. My 2.0 came out of a 71 runabout and I still have the parts car, but my Wife made me hide it down in the blackberry bushes, you know, out of sight ;)

Hey Farmboy,
If you have your engine on the stand you "SHOULD be able to just pull the pully off.
If it is stubborn use 2 tire irons to gently pry it off keeping pressure on bothe sides at the same time.

  Thanks Pintony,
Project done, the pully came right off, I fired up the air tools and spun the bolt right out. The belt sure goes on easier with the pully out of the way.
  Thanks again ;D,
