hello trying to get my pinto to start checked all wires and such every thing apperars to be fine but when i try to start it it will crank through the first three clynders and then what looks like and smells like exaust smoke pops out of the carb why is it doing it and how can i make my car start by the way it is a 79 2.3 sedan ohc ???

Check your ingintion timing, valve timing, and do a comp. check.

It might be a plug wire in the wrong order.
