I took the heater core out of my project Pinto, which leaves the heater send & returns on the water pump with nothing to do...
Given that overheating is a problem with the V8 swap, does anyone think it would be worthwhile to use that to pump thru an auxiliary radiator? I've got a couple of Ninja radiators with electric fans and it just struck me that they could be put to good use.
Maybe they could be craftily mounted on a car without fenderwells, maybe in a chin spoiler, maybe mounted several inches ahead of the main radiator...
...on the hood, like a Baja buggy *snicker*
I don't see why it wouldn't work.... I had a '74 StangII w/v8 swap & learned that turning on the heat would help cool the motor. It overheated ME tho!! :o
you could use the electric fan's thermostat control & some solenoid valves to control flow.
Hey!!!! PTSHERMAN,
I am doing the same thing. As I did not want to loose the structural integrity of the front frame and my beloved hood latch I used a 2 core v-6 radiator. Well....At a 100 degree ambiant(outside temp) I am dripping over slightly. But now that it has cooled down outside I have been giving ThunderPinto a serious shakedown to check my conversion job. There is no dought that I to am going to be needing a booster core(I call it) to dump the heat. I also have been checking ebay and and whatever I can. Yes... I expect that a Ninja assembly would do the trick. Also I have been introduced to an intresting heat exchanger called a micro channel which down the road a bit might solve allot of heating problems. But for now I have the same questions as you and some Ideas. I expect that the heater core supply and return would be enough to do the job based on the results I am getting from my gatorerade bottle. But then you have the question of where to put it. Also there is the question of up front wieght. I would like to get my radiator out of the front end all together. Here's one for you....An exhaust gas velocity induced sidewinder setup.
Please send me pictures of what you have and view mine.

Reeeeallly...I'm still considering the idea, I'll wait until I get the main rad in (I think I'm going to go with the Afco aluminum rad I've seen mentioned in here) and see what kind of temps I maintain first.
I don't know much about the hydro/thermodynamics, but another oh, I dunno, 180 square inches with a fan has got to help...
Without taking it down to the Pinto to check, I was thinking of having it mounted ahead ot the main rad, with a spacer to keep it away.
