I have a 80 pinto and want to install engine from 87 or 88 t-bird .That seems to be what i see to be best to install. Can someone tell me what all i need?I hate to just buy an engine and need the computer,sensors.etc.Thanks for all the info.
Hello jkimbriel,
Having never done the Pinto-Turbo 2.3 swap myself I am limited to saying.
Try to find a Merkur XR4TI W/ 5-speed Or a Ford T-bird Turbo coupe Prefer 85-86.
W/5-speed. The 5 speed has a MORE agressive ECU.
Both have advantages because the T-Coupe Has the T-5 Tranny
But the XR4TI has a stand alone wiring harness.
Just find a Car from a motivated seller "THAT RUNS" and buy the hole car, strip it down for the parts you need and sell the rest of the parts to re-coupe some of your money.
I could type on for much longer on this subject.
But that should get you started on your Quest.
