Title: plastic shield for gas tank
Post by: caravan3921 on October 24, 2005, 11:21:34 PM
I thought that ford put in plastic shields for gas tanks in 1977 models, but when my 78 was up in the air for work recently, there was no shield seen.  Adding a shield might be a good idea.....  Anybody out there done this, and if so, where would I obtain the part?

It should be a bolt in if you don't have one.  I think I may even have a spare.  I have seen NOS ones on Ebay too.

I am sure that Ford did intall it on the car. Ssometimes, if work is needed on or near the tank, mechanics might leave it off not knowing what it was for. Definitly get one, they are very easy to install.
