Title: Another toy fer Me!
Post by: DreamBean on October 22, 2005, 05:07:24 PM
Last weekend I decided that I needed another project because I was not finished with the one that I have now. Humor har har!! So I drive two hours to look at a 79 pinto that was garage kept for 14 years That WAS NOT.Humor har har again. Instead it was a 79 Bobcat wagon. But for 50 bucks who could go wrong. ME! The dang thing ain't got no key.It has the rims I have been hunting but no KEY.I got the title but no key. The paint is faded and has a few dings as to be expected. The interoir is a little rough. The running gear is complete intack.Except for the belt I broke getting the motor to turn over. But, You guessed it, NO KEY. Now my wife is pissed and secound gear is out in my 80 pinto. Talk about bad luck. Did I metion that the oil pump in my 66 Ford truck went bad? But I have keys for both of those. My wife wants me comitted because all I do is just sit and laugh.Well I have to go to the parts store in her car.(i have keys to it too) So I will fill you in later.(if she doesn't have me comitted).LOL

Hey dreambean!
yes we should all be commited, i just spent near $90 for an fittings, braided hose, etc just so i could plumb for 3/8 hard line from the tank. Oh yah and 45 for a good KD double flare tool set so i can redo ALL of the brake lines on the car. (This kit of brake lines I bought on ebay was universal. I thought it was supposed to be the right length. NOT!! OH  WELL!!!)

ANYWAYS heres a link on a BRAND NEW NOS set of locks for a pinto IGNITION DOORS AND TRUNK. ALL SAME KEY ( theres the key youve been looking for)

KEY? You don't need NO stinking key.
Call a locksmith to make you a key.
25.00 last time I had it done.
You will still have a 75.00 Pinto.

I know I'm a tight wad. But the cheapest locksmith is 75 bucks. I must have called a hundred of them LOL. It just breaks my heart to pay more for a key that I paid for the car LOLOLOL! I'll just have to bite the bullit and do it. After I fix my truck and put a trans in the bean.

when I bought my bobcat, it didn't have keys either. I took the lock tumbler out of the door and took it to a local locksmith shop. about three days later, I had two new keys. not remakes, but ford keys, with the oval on one side and "family of fine cars" on the other. I don't know what the cost was, the previous owner paid for it. shouldn't be much.

Took lock out of passengers side door and the better half took it to the lock smith. She said it took him about 10 minutes and cost me 25 dollars.  NOW I HAVE KEYS!!  Thanks Krazi
