i am rebuilding a 2.3 head to put in my '79 when im finished. and i was wondering what kind of HP porting & a roller cam (thanks to the purple pinto guy ;D) would give me ???
right now it is 88HP@4800 & 118ft/lbs@2800.....my goal is to top 100HP
Hello pmfman,
I recomend a Header and 2 1/4 exhaust with a free flow muffler.
With the cam and head work, a better intake manifold and carb should easly put you over 100 HP.
While you have the head off have it milled -.030 street and .060 for racing and buy an adjustable timming gear. Should put you near 125HP

money=faster
P.S.
If your goal is to making horse power it is a good idea to start out with a "SOUND" shortblock or you may find that all your money is going out the tailpipe and you will need fresh cylinderwalls to hold the extra C.R. from the head mill and free flowing induction.
low flow muffler? i usually use hollowed out mufflers :P
also, ive heard that the carbs are good for that engine and its just a matter of porting the intake ???
