ok, can somebody explain to me why the mercury bobcat doesn't seem to have the following/fan club that the ford pinto does?? Any insight into this would be appreciated. Did anybody else see the mercury bobcat on e-Bay?
here is link if you want to check it out:

AAAAAH....
It might be because the Bobcat is ugly???? ;D
NO.. Really I just think it is the same as Mustang Vs. Cougar.
Low production numbers.
from pintony
As usual, I agree with Pintony (not the ugly car part). I like them as much as a pinto, but I just don't have one. Pintos are easier to find, and the pinto "NAME" just seems to be a big thing.

Just think.......
If you had the nicest "Original" Bobcat on the planet..........
You were at a car show.......
Everyone that came by would say...
"Hey LOOK! A Pinto!"
Boy, Would that be agrivation??????
NO thank you!
From Pintony
Pintony, you sure are right about that. I have a restored 71 Torino GT I showed for about ten years before I found the brown Pinto. I have had people talk about my Gran Torino, Charger and Chevelle. I have never had anyone mistake the Pinto for anything other than what it is.

Hey Bipper,
I have a real hard time biting my lip when veiwers of my Purple Pinto say that my engine is a 2.3 turbo.
From Pintony
i do have a bobcat and all the car shows or parades i have taken it to the majority of people call it a pinto. I think this bobcat has more chrome than a pinto probably the mercury step up form the ford.all that said i part with this
A rose by another name would still be a rose.
"Everyone that came by would say...

Boy, Would that be agrivation???"
Pintony, that was good. Kind of like your "2.0" and my "stock turbo" engine.
BTW: Let me know when you have those parts ready to go.
Bill
very simple, a bobcat isnt nearly as known as the bobcat it
I almost got a 79 for 400 bucks it was nice
I drove a Bobcat wagon for about 4 years. It was my work car, my first love. The only difference is the front clip. If I had it now it would have gotten the 302. Bobcats are ok by me.

I almost whipped the gas station attendants butt for announcing on the loud speaker "OK to pump on 5 in the white........PACER? we'll see you inside."
The only thing that made me feel better was that every customer that made it in the store before me corrected him. he appologized.
I like Bobcats, and would own one if i found one in good condition. Its been hard enough to find a Pinto in good condition lately. My '76 is in horrible shape....it has so much rust that it has almost no floorpan left.....quarters, doors, part of the rockers.....all rusted. I dont feel bad about the cutting and welding i will be doing on that one because it is so damaged......just wish i could find one in better shape.
there was a beautiful bobcat on ebay recently. if my memory is correct, it did not sell because reserve not met.
