I have a T5 out of a 91 mustang that was behind a V8 and I am intersted if anyone has done this or is the T5 to long. I know that the T4 is basically the same transmission but it was behind the 4cyl and I do not know if the V8 moves the transmission back further. Also does anyone know if there is a rearend out of a later model mustang that is the right with, I know that I will have to put spring perches on but that is not a problem. I would like an 8.8 rearend or if possible a 9 inch this only because I have some parts left over from some mustang projects. I would prefer the 9 inch because I have more parts for it. I am new to pintos so please be patient.
the T-5 I put in my turbo 2.3 used the same mount as the later T-4.
The 8" rear from a Mustang II is a direct swap, the 9" or 8.8" will probably be too wide and require a lot of work.
8.8 is very close. My 9 inch is 51 inches i think and a mustang 8.8 is 52 inches, but i'm not 100% sure. Tom and i were going to do the 8.8 in that green '78 .....instead my father inlaw is buying it.
