Title: swing down dome map light
Post by: ernie on October 12, 2005, 01:24:48 PM
I am parting out this 1980 pinto, and removed a swing down map dome light from above the mirror.  Is this an original item installed on this pinto.  Thanks, Ernie

All the Pinto/Mustang II map lights I have seen have had a dome light molded into the map light housing.  I have not seen just the map light without the dome light.  That does not mean yours is not original.  Does it have a Ford P/N?  Make sure you grab the mounting bracket under the headliner.

The one in the photo looks like what was used on the Fox body Mustangs/Capris as they had separate supports for the end of the visors. The Pintos/Mustang IIs had provision for supporting the visors and did indeed have the dome light as part of the assembly, as was mentioned earlier.
