Your post should say...
Solid gold gas cap!
That guy is probally trying to make a buck off the high priced gold that we are putting in our tanks?

well if it was solid gold then it would be about $5 to $10 higher for opening bid, or about the cost of a gallon of gas . LOLOL  :P

Wow! A couple years ago I bought a used one for $5 with keys at a swapmeet.  15 minutes later I bought a NOS one for $7, still in the box.  My 73 came with one but the keys were lost.  I decided to keep using the locking caps since I found a replacement.  I must agree with 77turbopinto said, they fit the cars quite well.  However, when I paint my hatchback I will have a standard cap painted to match just so I can have a choice.

Thanks pintony, ;) I already have one. I bought a nos one for about 50 shipped a few months ago. I actually was still using my 22year old motorcraft one untill recently. The key was almost smooth but it still worked and the rubber still sealed! LOL !
This auction brings to mind a nos fender i saw on ebay about 3 months ago. The guy had a opening bid for $250 + shipping!
Plus he stated that buyer had to pay the driver for shipping costs! God knows what that wouldve been for a truck frieght. UPS wants on an average about 125 for across country for a fender. ( oversize cost)

I guess as parts get more scarce prices go higher, and higher etc.
sigh!! :'(

Hey 71hotrodpinto,
I sometimes put HIGH prices on parts just to see where the market is.
Imagine that you have a nice Pinto that has been involved in an accident.
Your insurance company wants to junk your Pinto because they feel that the parts are unatainable.
Or they want to throw a rusty junk yard part on your Pinto for the repair.
250.00 for a new fender Or 25.00 for a rusty fender with the body shop making 300.00 to put BONDO into it?
Just a thought...

Well this is a bit of old news, but he apparently scared off all potential bidders.  Too bad cause he lowered the first bid to $20. LOL
Oh well
