Post by: 77pintocw on October 02, 2005, 09:56:04 AM
Hello:

Are these wheels still available (NOS)?  If so, does anyone know the part number?
Also, are the chrome lug nuts still available (NOS) and if so does anyone know the
part number for them?

Thanks alot!

Hey 77pintocw, what is the need for the wheels, etc? Are you just trying to replace what you have with new or do you have another project that needs a set? If it's for your current CW, you could restore what you have. Eastwood has paint that is very close to the original colors. The black is satin in finish and the other is what Ford calls argent (silver). If you don't have a bead blaster to clean them up, that service may sometimes be found in the Yellow Pages. NOS center caps sometimes come up on eBay, but they are getting pretty expensive. I have seen sets go for $150+! Used caps also show up and their prices are all over the place, depending on condition and the owner's knowledge of what they are. The trim rings seem to run in spurts. One time there won't be anything at all and a couple of weeks later there will a few sets or singles available. The rings seem to still pretty reasonable because I don't think a lot of people have caught on that the originals are stainless and the aftermarket units are an inexpensive chrome steel (in most cases) and usually sell quite cheap. Being stainless, some good used straight units can be brought back to life (SHINY!!) with just a little work. With just some average effort, these wheels can be made to look better than new and serve on a show car!

Hey 79panel:

Good to hear from you.  Thanks for the information.  The wheels I have are in good shape but
do need to be restored.  I just wanted to get an extra set while I can since you know how parts
are getting more difficult to find.  I was able to find a set at Green Sales that were NOS.  Also, was
able to find some trim rings from a place out in Apache Junction, AZ.  I had already found NOS center
caps on e-bay.  Just ordered the paint last week from Eastwood and should get it this week.  My CW
Pinto is getting worked on by Doug Jenkins Custom Hot Rods in St. Louis.  They should have it finished
by the first of December.  Can't wait to get it back.  Will post pics of it when they finish it.

Thanks again!
