Has anyone seen an adjustable (tilting) steering column on early 70s cars? I have an old magazine with an ad for tilt mechanisms that shows one model made for Pintos, apparently as an aftermarket accessory. Any info?
Hello vovo222,
My Pangra has a tilt colum.
Not sure where it came from.
If you are serious about the tilt colum I can seee if I can find any identifying marks on mine.
From Pintony
I put a tilt column from a 79 T-Bird in my 77 Pinto Wagon, had to modify it a bit and it is a bit longer, but you can
collaps it a bit.
Hey, Pintony -- My grandmother's yellow '72 base model Pinto had one of these (it was the first car I drove). I totally forgot about this feature and thought it was stoc or factory option, but finding this old ad and seeing "Pinto" in the fine print made me remember her saying she had it installed to help her get in and out (it was her first small car). I'm seriously interested in finding out more about it and maybe getting a better look at one. Does it look like it might fit other cars too? It probably was a JCW catalog item. Can you post photos?
