Title: Help Installing Rear Spoiler
Post by: Late Models Best on September 19, 2005, 08:28:36 PM
I was lucky to find a Rallye factory rear spoiler for my 79 Bobcat all glass hatch back.  Does anyone have a Pinto or Bobcat with one of these type spoilers.  Or has anyone ever installed or removed one.  It seems that I will have to remove the filler piece that is just below the glass and in the corners.   Is there some kind of angle iron to attach it to?    Any help or advice is appreciated

Hello Tom D.
Yes there should be a vertical lip that the all glass hatch RALLYE wing attaches bolt to using large head philips head screws.
There should also be hardware located on the wing itself for attachment.
Every "USED wing I have seen is missing this hardware.
I have used 3M attaching strip to use instead of the factory hardware.
The RALLYE wing consists of 5 pieces.
Most USED wings only come with 3.
There are 2 filler pieces that are required to install the RALLYE spoiler.

My 78 has the big glass as well, and I can see what tony is talking about. I have never seen that item for the big glass. Yes, you need to remove those 2 "filler" panels. Very easy, you can reach the nuts by going up thru the side marker light access panels (just be sure you get all of them, 6 i think, the panels are not sealed or glued. if it will not come off, you missed some fasteners).
