Check out my classified ad for my 1977 Mercury Bobcat. I'm in trouble with the wife, because I recently acquired a 1948 Plymouth Coupe and a 1958 Chevy Apache, and now I have too many cars that I'm paying insurance on. Also, they just sit in the yard until I go fill them up with gas and wash them, take pictures and wish I could buy more.
The bobcat will start and run, but badly. The number one cylinder is damaged and the block has a hairline crack. I had a lot of work done trying to get it running, they basically rebuilt the entire upper part of the engine. Ran out of money to finish it. I bought a second 2.3L engine with AC, but haven't gotten too far rebuilding it. I wish I had the skills and money to do it right.
I drove this car from Monterey California to Texas back in 2013, and have driven it weekly since then. I entered in many car shows, and have the trophies to prove it.

Nice looking Bobcat!
Do you have a photo of that Plymouth? My dad bought a second-hand 1947 two-door Special Deluxe when I was a kid. I always loved that car just because it looked so different from the other cars we had which were late-sixties models; there was an amazing amount of change in the twenty year period from late-forties to late-sixties!

Here is the 48.
It looks to be pretty solid - brings back a lot of memories. The '47 my dad bought in the late sixties had been purchased new by my great aunt, a spinster, so it was in pretty good shape. There was some chalkiness to the paint and some surface rust on the hood and top because she had a bad habit of parking it beneath a willow tree to keep it cool in summer. He had that repaired and the car repainted and drove it back and forth to work for several years, freeing up the primary family car for my mother. When he sold it in 1971 in order to buy a 4x4 pickup instead, it had still registered less than 100,000 miles. He sold it to a co-worker who drove it well on into the eighties. Thanks for the photo!
Dwayne :)
