Didn't know they are not un-common.
But the ones on E-bay would cost me $225.00 + to buy them.
I bought one for $15.00.
Using it, I made one out of 0.045 steel plate (stuff I happened to have in the shop).
Steel on the left. OEM I painted black.
Steel one is 416g / 14.7 oz
OEM is 288g / 10.2 oz
The aluminum one in the center is 0.045" as well, but is 150g / 5.3 oz & cost me about $1.60 to make, not including my time.

Funny how the options are, buy one off Ebay for more than an acceptable radio would cost (negating the need for a delete plate) or make one with under $2 in materials and enjoy the fact that you saved $223!
For me it makes sense to delete the radio in a V8 car.
Not going to hear it well......or at all.
Unless a person wants to keep "The Look" ?
I know in my white one , it takes all of my attention to drive it, plus it's loud !
Not going to drive it far anyway.
But I'm not a radio type anyway. It my truck, regardless of how many hours drive it is, I never have the radio on.
Only place I listen to one is in my shop !
and new instrument panel.... I didn't drill for the new GPS Speedo etc yet. Need to order them !
Whole dash is going to be restored as well.
Heater control delete plate next...

I deleted the radio and installed an opdschool bearcat CB.
I use my phone and a bluetooth amp to listen to talk radio when i drive and hear the gps navigation thru the car speakers.
