I am having issues filling up my gas tank. I'll put the pump in and it will fill 2-3 gallons just fine but then stops. I have to pump super slow from that point on to get the tank full. Anyone else had this problem/or know how to alleviate it?
Hey Bullmoose,
Try not putting the nozzel so far in the filler tube.

That's the first thing I did, but it doesn't help. :) So I thought maybe others have had this problem.
Hello bullmoose,
On my 72 Pinto I installed a late model filler neck with the smaller hole for the un-leaded nozzle.
the 73 Pinto was not designed in mind for un-leaded fuel and the regular leaded fuel nozzles were much bigger.
The only other thing I can think of to point the nozzle down by holding up on the handle.
YOU PRETTY MUCH HAVE TO HOLD THE HANDLE ANYWAY BECAUSE IF YOU DON"T IT WILL FALL OUT.

My 79 wagon has the same problem from time to time. In my experience it just seems to be the pump nozzle?
Do you think it might not be venting well? If the pump nozzle is fitting to tightly and there is no other way to vent I can see that as a problem.
I was thinking the filler neck might be stopped up?! I can't really see how though it's a fairly large diameter tube.
Try holding the nozzle sideways. That's what I have to do to fill my 79 wagon up at a lot of stations. Otherwise it cuts off after a second or two.
