Where's a good place to go to find NOS parts for a pinto? What are some links or phone numbers to call to find parts for a 1978 Ford Pinto? I'm needing an accelerator pump diaphragm and I can't be certain if this part seen on eBay would fit exactly so I'm not going to go that route.
Try Autozone, O reilly, napa.. you will be surprised at the number of parts new or rebuilt that are still available for pintos since Ford tended to use the same parts across a lot of models including the mustang ii and ranger.. the weber 2 bbl was used from 71 till 92.. the only problems seem to be front suspension and brake parts for 71-73 models.. later models share a lot with the mii.
Exactly. I just did a quick search and it seems the same diaphram was used on a large number of Ford products. Dorman makes one. And most places if they don't carry Dorman can order from them. BTW, you probably don't want NOS, but rather something newer what with the ethanol in gas today.
That said it will probably be an order item. The last carbureted engines available are at least 30 years old.
Also.. you can probably find a rebuild kit for not much more than a special order diapbram... oreilly and napa seem to have more small parts... i even found the rubber seal ring for the thermostat at oreilly for less than a dollar.
Also with respect to replacement "rebuilt" weber carburetors.. its probably to either rebuild r existing one or have it rebuilt.
The reason is that because there were so many varients of the carburetors for different models, it is probable that when they are factory rebuilt they may be fitted with incorrect jets.
The PO of my car put a "rebuilt" carburetor and the jetting was all wrong. I never did get it running properly.
