Title: Rays 76 Pinto
Post by: rkk on August 30, 2005, 03:19:21 PM
Just thought I post a picture of my 76 just to get your thoughts.  Bought it recently in Wisconsin and added a few things to it.  A turbo coupe engine is next.  Just took it to a car show over the weekend and got 3rd place.  Had some strange looks, like people never seen one before, but everyone really liked it.  I think Pintos are the next collectible car, just because they are different.

Yea it is shinney, but I can't take credit.  The guy I bought it from did some major body work and paint and did a flawless job.  The car is actually setup nice, he road raced it and really ent through the suspension.  Alot of stuff from Racer Walsh.  I put the 4 speed in it, the wheels and a lot of the interior.
It's a clean car, all it needs is a turbo motor and I will be happy.

A blast to drive.  I have a AMX also, but the pinto is more fun.

Very nice Pinto. Cragar SS wheels? That's what i want to put on mine. So classy.

How did you convert the front rotors to 5 lugs? Did you have to change spindles, calipers etc, or can you get 5 lug rotors to bolt right on?

Yea it's St. Louis.
The Cragers are 5 lug.  For the front you can just use rotors that are 5 instaed of 4 with out changing the brakes spindles etc.  Granada some mavericks or Mustang II.  The back is a good question it's a stock Pinto rear but was converted to 5 lug by the previous owner and I never new what axles he used.  I am changing it over to a 8" rear for the turbo motor I will be putting in it.

Damn, that car is freaking clean! I just saved a 76 from the wrecking yark. My uncle just bought it from me. IT has a new 2.8 motor, the interior was taken from a parts car I had and it got 26 baths just to get the crap out of the interior and exterior. The reason that I wanted him to get it was beacuse I saw how hot your 76 looked. He agreed. Thats one more that will stay on the road guys! Now he just needs to paint it........

Thanks,  I really wanted a 73 when I bought this car.  Because the bumpers look better.  But the best thing that was done to this car was the bumper was cut back and moved closer to the body.  Which eliminates that cow catcher look they normally have.  I replaced the wheels also with the cragers, with black I think it turned out nice.
