I'm picking up a Mustamg II Parts car which has headers will the headers from the Mustang work on my Pinto??? Mustang is 1977 with Black Jack Headers Not Shorties The Pinto is a 1979
what size motor are you putting in your car?On my 302 the passenger side fit perfect but the drivers side I had to take to a exhaust shop and they cut it and bent it for me to fit,it works great only costed 25.00 so it ended up a good deal.I used Hedman headers
I'm putting in a 302. Thanks for your help. Are there any other hints you can give me on my engine swap?
one big word of advice, don't get frustrated ;D it's actually a fairly easy swap,if you run into a problem or start to scratch your head, before you throw a wrench just come on here and ask away there is always somebody here who can answer your questions,or at least knows where to send you for the right advice
I'm saving up for a 302 to put in mine, and i've been told by a few people that you would have to drill a hole in the inside fenders. I dunno if you could find some shorty headers, but if you can do it without cutting the pinto let us know. Because i'd much rather spend a little extra then cut a hole in the car. thanks.
you will have to cut a hole in each side on the inner fender, it's not a big deal, and you can dress the cutout up with crome or black edging. My opinion is this does not weaken the structure as its only a section about 4 or 5 inches wide by about 10 inches long. Jeff
you can kinda see in this picture how big the cut outs need to be
My headers came from a kit that you could buy 25 years ago, at least thats what the old man told me when I bought his 1974 Wagon off him. I didn't cut ant thing out they fit like a glove. It's too bad the man is dead then I could tell you what make they are. I call them tarantula headers.
Ive seen something similar. A guy had a 351 in a Courier. He had Bronco headers and installed the left side on the right and the right side on the left. They barely cleared the hood.
