Has anyone been able to find a sending unit for a 1979 Pinto. Please help! Part number would be a bonus
This one went into my 1977 Tank . It does say it will not fit your Pinto but........It did/

thank you fast fred....do you know the differences in the sending units fg178a and fg178b on amazon
I don't at the moment. but.....I had the new sender unit fitted and connected up but this is crazy. The more fuel i put in the gauge shows less!
Any one have an answer?
Fred
Change the resistor ..IE check what yours is reading on an ohm meter and if it's 100 ohms change it for a 90 ohm etc.. Nope off hand I do not know the value of the resistor but that's all of the sending units read via float position versus fuel level.
Look on ford pinto nos on E-gay.

I was the one who first posted that I bought the Amazon unit. That was over a year ago. I have had bad health and have yet to install it. I do not know if I will ever finish the build.
About how the unit works. If I just imagine the E equals full and the F equals empty, will it do the job?
Bill
Maybe it will. LOL Will let you know!
Dumb ? But Could it be mounted upside down?

Didnt want come across a jerk but I had mounted one upside down to make factory Datsun gauge work with a fuel cell using GM sender.

The sender has an arm with a float on the end. If it were possible (don't know for sure) that the arm was mounted 180 degrees out then you might possibly get the reverse reading.
Makes sense!
