Scored a jewel for 500 dollars runs drives second owner. 2.8l automatic baby crap green, woodgrain needs some tlc. Story is dude I got it from was his grandmas. Sat last 5 years due to someone loosing key. Well they tried beating lock cylinder out with no success only damaging column. My buddy pulled steering wheel and removed lock cylinder. We for time being got it were a screwdriver will work. We put a battery in it and little gas it fired right off did not smoke any. Question I found a 77 pinto column complete on eBay with keys said it come from a floor shift hatchback car. Will it work? Mine is also automatic in floor. Really want column fixed were retards beat it up. I also need a grill BADLY. Is there not any reproduction parts. I can not source a grill anywhere. Mine is gone.Next motor runs good but has a valve train noise like a noisy lifter. From reading these motors are solid? Right? Figure I'll pull valve covers replace gaskets and check or adjust valves. Noise does not get worse cold or hot but if it were a hydraulic lifter motor I'd say it needed lifters. Anyone else had any valve train noises? Other than tick motor runs good. Any help needed . I'm 20 and I own several vehicles but this is my most unique yet. I'm learning to be a wrench turner. Any input appreciated this is a great sight.PS working off a cell phone how do add photos. Nothing happened when I click photo thing in banner.
Hello Ccrain.
I'm not the best mechanic on this web site but trust me when I tell you your in the right place. I bought an old Willys Jeep that someone had installed a "Pinto" engine in using an adapter kit. It had sat for 12 years and even went under water. It runs like a top now and the dog and I drive it almost every day!!
Best of luck with your new treasure! Happy motoring.
1948 Wills with a Ford Pinto engine!
Congrats on the find and good luck with the project.
With the help of the Fellows on this web-site the little Pinto engine
that sat for years and went under water now runs everyday!
Thanks Crew!
Glad to hear she's still running good..
Thanks Art.
Like I mentioned to Ccrain, this is the place to be for any and all questions about your "Pinto".
Wish I could be around more but we gotta' pay the bills! ;)
I hear that, truckin still good??.
Hey Art.
Trucking is still good. Someday I'd like to retire but for now it pays the bills.
Like to spend more time in the shop one of these days.
