Title: Pinto plugs
Post by: sedandelivery on September 19, 2016, 05:00:18 PM
I just replaced the original spark plugs on my 1980 Bobcat, One of the plugs out of the box had bad threads. Autolite plugs, made in Mexico. I had extras so all is well now. Some of the plugs are hard to get to due to a large pipe covering that side of the engine.

No question, just informing others if they buy new plugs, check them out before ripping old ones out. Mine are in and car is running fine, I had extra new ones.

Anymore I always take stuff out of the box before I pay for it especially oil filters, just because it's new don't mean it's good, and just because the box has the right number don't mean it's the same inside the box, not the good ole days anymore.. :(

Always good tip. I got plenty of spare parts but with any part I check them before I leave the parts store to save a trip. One mistake I made a couple years ago was buying wrong spark plugs. Thread the same, heat range the same but did not reference to a Pinto 2.3. They were for a 79 Mustang turbo. Found out I got lucky since they will work but had they not I also had a box of correct plugs I keep for spares in case I break down on the side of the road.
