I know with EFI it's critical that one has all grounds(electrical) down and or attached. But where did everyone put their ECU? Any suggestions?
I don't have a heater box in my car so i mounted it up on the underside of the cowl where the heater was. For the time it takes, run a ground wire right to the negative side of the battery. It it very important that the ECU is grounded properly as they are VERY ground sensitive, ground it to the chassis and to the battery.
I put mine in the glove box. I have a programable chip and needed an accessable location to get at it.
Passenger side kick panel. Like 78pinto said, grounds are very important. I also ran a ground right to the battery.

I mounted my TEC3 ECU above the glove box, using two 1/8 X1" pieces of aluminum stock as a mount for the ECU. One end of the aluminum is bent 90 degrees and screwed to the heater intake plenum, (the metal area below the windshield and above the heater box), and the other end screws to the lip above the glove box opening. This way, I can still use the glove box for, uh.... gloves.
I ran all the ground wires to the bolt for the body ground on the negative battery cable.
Sweet! All kind of ideas. Thanks guys.
Have 1980 Pinto
Have 1988 Thunderbird EFI 5.0 and AOD
How to hook up EFI in Pinto, Do i need the original Pinto Wireing or can I use thunderbirds.
Trying to mate the two to make a pintobird
Just as inportant as where to mount it, is where to come thru the firewall with the harness. I found on my T/P, just below the stock wire hole worked very well. It gives me room for the a/c type box and won't contact any other inportant "stuff" on either side. Mine is mounted against the a/c box verticaly (inside the glovebox area)

Does your T/P have working A/C? I want to keep the A/C on my future T/P. Any advice would be great.
