Title: Battery box install
Post by: 8upwithpinto on October 09, 2003, 09:28:52 AM
I am moving my battery to the hatch area. Bought a kit with all the stuff needed. Was woundering if it would be better to run the pos. cable inside or outside the car?

I ran mine inside, under the back seat and under the carpet along the door up behind the kick panel and through the firewall.  That way you don't have to worry about it getting hung up on road debri or ripped out, corrotion  ect ect.

Good point. Road debris can be a bad thing. I guess I could fit the cable inside the hatch side panel. Best part about that is no drilling. 8) Saw your trunk. Nice and clean. Wish I had a trunk to hide stuff in.

Inside the hatch area on the pass side ( which is were you want to mount it) is a pannel, pop it off and you can feed the wire forward inbetween the outer skin and inner body over the wheel well and into the rear seat side kick pannel, remove the kick pannell and feed the wire to the forward/bottom area where you can exit. remove the pass door trim at the bottom that holds the carpet in place and tuck the cable in that area then forward and up the inside of the fire wall. Its a tight squeez but you can drill a hole and insert a rubber grommet thru the fire wall so the cable exit's about wire loom hight in the engine compartment. then it's just over to the selinoid ( sp).

Thanks guys. This will be my mod on the list. Trying to do stuff a little at a time so I can keep the car rolling. Next? Well mabe fuel system or pull the engine. Or both. Once I do either the lil' car is gona be down until I fire it up with the new drive line. Can't wait. ;D
