Title: Who made the 74 Cruiser Wagons
Post by: Mason66 on August 03, 2005, 11:54:18 AM
I bought one in 1988 and it had an oval type window on it.  I know Ford made them starting in 1977 but who made them before that?

Does anybody know?

There was a car customizer out here in So-Cal that made fiberglass kits to convert wagons to the "sedan delivery" or panel look. In fact, I still have his business card somewhere and the logo on the card was a radically customized Pinto wagon panel. The guy's first name was Dean, but I have forgotten his last name at the moment. (must be that old age senility thing acting up again!!) I believe he actually may have done one of those to show at the SEMA Show way back when. The kits were made either plain or with a somewhat rectangular shaped window that was at an angle similar to a hashmark. The panels came out to the aliminum moldings that surround the windows. They did not wrap around the rear pillars like the factory ones do. I've included a photo from the FordPinto gallery of a Bobcat that appears to have these panels.
