Title: Wiring Harness
Post by: TonyB on August 03, 2005, 08:52:36 AM
My '72 has been sitting outside for 12yrs.   Consequently the wiring, particularly underhood, is severyly dried out.   I'm considering one of several universal wiring kits.   Anyone have any experience with these?

TIA,
Tony

I haven't ever done it, but everyone I've talked to swears by Painless Wiring. I doubt you'll find a direct "drop in" replacement though. An early Mustang harness ('68-78) ought to be close enough to work. They'll have the same lighting setup & number of circuits.

Crazyhorse,
Thanks fro the reply....yea, I've already resigned myself to buying a generic & custmizing it.

Are there any other experiences out there with other brands?   I've seen the following:

http://www.centechwire.com/catalog/fords/k40f.shtml (http://www.centechwire.com/catalog/fords/k40f.shtml)

Thanks for the info!

Is it still "painless" when you see the price?????

They are all ranging from $170-$300.   Hotrod wires are the cheapest, but lack the really convenient labelling of Centech and Painless.
