Got the shifter rod out, it moved back .25" but wont come off. Ideas??????

Not familiar with that trans, but - Speedometer gear?

Just emailed you a scan of the portion of the 1977 Ford manual covering the Pinto manual transmission. It has been too many years since I played with one to remember the details. Have fun with it.
