Hi guys, I am new here and I have a question.
I, like many of you, had a Pinto as my first car back in the 80's and it sold me as a very dependable car. I couldn't kill that car, and i tried. Mine had the overhead valve 1600 german engine which I loved. It was a 72 sedan. I would like to have another one, but that is another story.
My question is that I see where you guys are putting turbo engines from the turbo coupes in the pintos but has anybody tried to install a 1989 T-Bird supercharged engine? I know the Pinto came with the 2.8 V6 but i am not sure there is enough room for the 3.8SC.
I now live in Mexico and a decent Pinto is real hard to find here, even worse they want a lot of money for a piece of crap. It would be easier to import one from the states but it has to be 1975 or older.
I have a line on a 1972 wagon that now has a 289 V8, which is exactly what I am looking for, and he is asking the equivelent of 2500 but then said he will take 1500 for it. Already painted and with mustang wheels but is all the way down south and we don't have the kind of transport that can bring me the car but if I have to I will drive all the way with a trailer to get it.
Later on I will be looking for more wagons and maybe a runabout or 2.
A couple of months ago I bought the new Mustang GT with a stickshift and I love it but I would really like another simple Pinto.
Anyway, has anybody thought about the 3.8SC switch?
I've got a 1973 Pinto Runabout that I just picked up and just got running, it's in ok shape, interior is decent and some rust on the body. Whoever had it before me put a small racing steering wheel on it, a aftermarket holley carb, 2 foot glass pack with duel exhaust out the sides in front of the back tires. Seems like a pretty sweet car but this is the first Pinto i've dealt with so i'm not sure yet.
