I can't imaging wanting those to be chrome, but obviously some did.

Actually I like those. I would sand down the outside and paint them, kind of like on a Mustang II. Would look hot but you would have to get the hood lip moulding part for it though, unless you paint that part. Those are sweet!!! Never saw them before!
Could be the issue between Ford and Mercury there, I bought later ('80ish) square headlight bezels that were chrome, from a Bobcat in the yards IIRC............
If I had a spare $20, I would buy them just for the sake of having them if someone here wanted them. But I don't.
Sucks being broke. :(

Looks like they are only selling the chrome inserts. You need to have the matching headlight "frames". The frames are cut out to except the chrome inserts. Yes, they would not look right without the chrome strip along the leading edge of the hood. Since I removed all of the chrome trim from my 76 wagon I switched to the 1-piece headllight frames.
In answer to the original question, weren't they 1976 only? That's the way I remember it but I could be wrong!
Dwayne :)
Yes, I believe that is what Fred Morgan told me when I traded my 76 frames for another set.

Those only came on Canada only 74 Bobcats & all 76 Pintos. They all carry 74 part numbers on the part (D4FZ or D42B) but the boxes for 76 Pintos have the 76 part number (D6FZ) on them. On the 76 Stallion the area around the headlight was painted black.
I thought that they were a Bobcat standard feature. Bobcats seem to have more chrome. I have them on my 77

The 75-up Bobcat versions don't have the little tail that aligns with the hood chrome strip

Yep that is correct. The Pinto and Bobcat versions are different.
