Hey, everyone:
I'm going to be changing the steering on my '80 wagon from power to manual. Has anyone here done that conversion? Any tips? Any good kits out there?
Thanks--
Gary
Park your car next to mine & lets swap........ I wish.
All I did was swap the power rack with a manual rack. Remove the pump, hoses and cooler if you have one. I had the engine out of the car so that made things easier. ;)
All you have to do is hook the inlet to the outlet on the rack with about 12" of rubber hose made for oil coolers. Road races have been doing this since 74 to get a faster rack (less turns lock to lock). VERY EASY fix. Throw the pump away and your home free. Make sure you fill the rack with oil before you put the hose on. Just pour some ATF into the inlet fitting, then put the hose on.
