hi this was probally posted already but I will ask again.i have a 77 2.3 with power steering and want to move alt over on the pass side.what kind of mount can be used?also will I need different size belts? I run twin belts on mine. thanks for any and all help. chris
Odds of using same belt are 1,000,000/1.
IF, I could just get a little free time I plan on moving mine over, if there's nothing hanging on the passenger side now it's a no brainer, looks like you could use the same belt too?, piece of flat stock from the scrap, er I mean the material bin bent on each end for the mount, a flat alternator adjuster from whatever as long as it's long enough, I have one from a Chevy(I think) just have to cut it to length, couple spacers and done deal, extend the wires of course and you're good to go.... Now if there's other stuff hanging on the right side then that's another story,lol..
Just saw a picture of a 2300 in a Ranger and the alternator was on the passenger side. How about that? Don't know what year.
Probably didn't have anything else hanging on that side??..
Scroll down some for a custom bracket photo. Down a little further is a Ranger bracket.

Probably easiest to cruse the junk yard for something. From readings, the pulley spacing front to back varies between applications. So if you find something at the JY, probably best to get all brackets and pulleys. Hopefully somebody who has done this will chime in.
All you need is the factory ac bracket / mount off of any 2.3L Merkur to mount the alternator on the pass side. Pass it on to the Mustang people.
i used a smog pump bracket and drilled it and tapped it to fit the alternator, then two heims joints bolted it to the alt and a empty bolt hole on the front of the block, used a pipe i found as spacers to move alt inline with pullys
