Title: Project planning, looking for 5.0 EFI wiring help
Post by: econoaddict on July 07, 2005, 12:11:00 AM
Trying to get all my ducks in a row before diving in and creating a nightmare.
I have a complete running/driving 89 mustang, body trash but drivetrain is excellent.
I would like to install the 5.0 and EFI into my pinto and keep the engine as stock as possible (for now) to get all the bugs worked out.
Anyway I have seen some info on what parts of the wiring harness I need to keep and specific pins etc that will need moved to make it all function properly. But I can't find them now to save my life.
Any links to info, books or what ever would be highly appreciated.
Thanks all

What I can remember from the info I seen they did not keep the a.i.r system or all 4 of the o2 sensors, only 2 were used.
I will also be dropping the AC and powersteering.

give me your email addy (you can pm me with it if you don't want to post it for others to see) and i'll send you some links. There are only 2 O2 sensors on the 5 liter engines. My conversion eliminated all smog related stuff, TAB,TAD, EGR, ect. It's not too hard to do.

And if you really really hate wiring, Ford Racing makes a plug & play harness but you might have to fork out a few hundred bucks..

Looking forward to your advice.

I got printouts of the complete harness today so I can start picking out which stuff obviously is not needed.

Cheapracer, I have looked at that option best price I could find for the application is $425+/- a few bucks.
If I can use what I already have that money can be spent on shiney go fast stuff  :o

Wow! I guess it's time to throw away my '95 Motorsport catalog & price list.

lol, no reason to toss it.

I seen the same wiring kit for around $225, how ever according to ford you also need their senor and relay kit $100ish and what they call a "racing" computer not a stock one. It was another couple of hundred bucks.
