I have a '73 Pinto wagon. Automatic. 2.0.
Been tweeking the valve lash and stuff, set timing correctly.
Anything else I can do to make it a little faster?
Should I just get a new engine?
What would or have you done!!??
Let me know!
are you willing to do a manual swap?
If its cheap and easy. But I already spent a hell of a long time fixing the transmission and pulling it
You could try this!
That's not cheap or easy 79pro! Haha! I hate to sound like a broken record, but play with the cam timing. Most have retarded cam timing to begin with and if the head has ever been resurfaced it's even worse. Give that automatic about 2* of cam timing and it will come alive. BTW, my 2.0 ran 13.40's with a 50 shot of nitrous soooo.........
your right 71pintoracer not cheap or easy but should be a hand full of fun!! I've got to think a good header would help put a little life to mrmellowgold's air pump.(engine) maybe a good air cleaner?
You only want to make your Pinto go a little fast................not FAST!!!!
My Pinto goes FAST!!!!
LOL
put a 3:40 or 3:55 or 3:73 rear axle under it. dial in the stock cam and drive it.
Read Scott Hamilton's article and view the videos of his 2.0 build. Sounds great! What I plan one day!
