Hello I was thinking about installing T5 out of a Mustang. in my 73 pinto 2.0 4 speed I was wondering what would be needed to install the t5 transmission was wondering if the Mustang clutch set will bolt up to my flywheel? And what pilot bearing to use if the Mustang one will work?

Yes it is a 2.3 t5 and I've been looking through the links thanks. but still haven't found anything about the clutch or throw out bearing. I know the two top holes won't line up on the bell housing I have a way to fix that. I just want to have all the parts ready so when I pull it out I'll be able to put it back as quickly as possible thank again for all the help

The 2.0 EAO and 2.3 Lima have different crank to flywheel bolt patterns. The after market makes flywheels with dual bolt patterns. This looks like what turbopinto72 used, http://www.fordpinto.com/your-project/73-pangra-project/180/ . Hopefully some one will chime in if there is a easier/cheaper combination. Some after market 2.0/2.3 flywheels (no experience with items).

When I adapted a RAD 10 spline transmission to a 2.0, I used a Weber flywheel and clutch combination. Unfortunately, they no longer offer it.
Ok thanks I think im going to putting it in this weekend if im not busy. I looked up at oreilly.com and the pilot bearings are both the same. And the clutch is both the same size only thing different is one has a different spline. So I think I'll get that flywheel to work out but if all else fails I'll have to get one from that website you posted

You need the 10 spline clutch disc out of a late 80's (87-88) 2.3 5-speed car. Non turbo, just a base 2.3 Mustang
Thanks, Pinto5.0. Looking around Oreilly's, it appears the 86-93 Mustang NA 2.3 5-speed clutch disc should fit, not sure about the pressure plate. Make sure it is the 8.5" OD and not the larger turbo clutch disc. For some reason they do not list the clutch disk without the pressure plate. When I did my 2.0 to RAD conversion back in the mid-70's, I could not find a disc to fit the stock clutch (this sure would have made it easier/cheaper).
I couldn't find the pressure plate separate on there either its funny they should sell it separately. instead of buying the whole set. I'll keep you guys posted how it's going thanks again for all the help

I got it installed in the car I was surprised it worked out so good! Just drill the two holes that don't line up in the bell housing get the Mustang clutch kit Mustang transmission mount and Mustang Drive shaft you'll need to get u joint that fits to pinto rear end to Mustang Drive shaft you'll need to drill two holes in the crossmember towards the back for the new transmission mount you'll need to nacho a hole for the shifter in the pan the clutch cable hooks right up and so does the speedometer cable with no problem there is no welding involves do this project I thought there was going to be but there's not

The speedo cable should work but I've read several posts about needing to mod the plastic gear slightly
That's what I figured was going to happen. But no I didn't modify it anyway it just slid right in. I'm thinking maybe they modified it because they need to change it to a different one so they can get the right speed readings on the speedometer? Ill get back to you when I find out how much mine is off if it is at all

If I remember right it was just removing a little excess that kept the cable from fully seating.

Does anyone have pictures (or better yet, CAD dimensions!) of the trans-to-bell housing patterns on the T5 and 4-speed bellhousings?
I can find no specific info about how much modification the 4-speed's bell would need in order to fit on a 2.3 T5 trans, if it could be made to fit at all. I have a machine shop at my fingertips, so slicing and dicing is no problem. I could even get an adapter plate fabbed up if necessary, but would rather carve on a bell housing I already have and don't need than a $60 piece of material I have to buy. ;)
I'm sure it's possible I took a different route I used the 2.3 bellhousing it works fine you just have to drill two hot holes in the top off the bell housing but if you don't have the bell housing anyone take that route what I would do is bolt the bellhousing up to the back of a motor then put the transmission to that then you can mark the holes of where you need to drill on the bellhousing
