I'm just looking for a ballpark price, before people start yelling at me that every shop/ car is different i know that. I'm going to start saving some money for a new exhaust system. The car is a 1979 Mercury bobcat. What I want is 2" exhaust header back, new cat and new muffler. I'm planning on putting on a ranger manifold. I can weld and have access to tig/mig and stick welder. I'm trying to figure out if i should buy an exhaust bender(heirbor frieght) or let a shop do it. If I do it my self I want to make a header.
just realized that is not an exhaust bender it is an pipe bender for heavier gauge pipe
If you have welding skills and have access to welders....I say jump in and get your feet wet! There is nothing better (and cheaper) than doing it yourself. You can buy whatever size of straight pipe and bends you need and start cutting and welding. I built a header for a Volkswagon 1800 bus motor for a sandrail a number of years ago out of necessity. Turned out great! It really isn't that hard 8)

There are postings on you-tube that show how to make a Harbor Freight bender work on tubing.
Looking into maybe modifying a ranger exhaust
Plan the exhaust, buy mandrel bends & straight pipe.
Fire up the welder & you got a good exhaust !
No need to buy a bender !
