Got the motor and 4 speed manual pulled out of my parts car and the motor mounts are way differnt. the 71 I'm pulling out the motor mounts are welded in and the 74 wagon has the mount bolted in, as for my question, are there aftermarket motormounts that you can get that just bolt up to the frame for the 2.3 to the 2.0 conversion?? ???
Thanks
Hey Farmboy,
No!! :'(
Get out the plazma cutter. ;D
From Pintony
No plazma cutter, guess I'll break out the high speed air grinder.
Thanks Pintony
I've spent the last 24 hours doing EXACTLY this. In fact, I pulled the 2.0 engine with one mount (PITA to get off!!) last night and the other this morning. I then put them in my car and drove them to another members house, where he gave me a set of 2.3 mounts. I came back and have been screwing with it all day. I just gave up for today, since I THINK I need a Fox tranny crossmember part to get the T5 in. In fact, that's what I came here to search for....lol... I'll get to that in a minute, though.
Anyway, the biggest PITA about the mounts is the fact that the spot weld don't drill out THAT easily. Well, they didn't for me. I used a 5/16" or 3/8" bit and I STILL had to hammer the crap out of it to get them off. There are 5 or 6 on each side of EACH mount, and about 20-24 total. The lowest ones, where the frame bends a bit, are especially crappy, and I ended up just ripping off the mount there. The brake lines need to be shoved out of the way a little, too. You see all this when you get there!
What tranny are you putting in, and if it's a T5, how is it going to mount to the factory X-member? I don't have a Fox x-member, and I think I need one...
