Hey there! I was wondering how I would go about putting on new rubber mounts or bushings on my 1973 Pinto wagon. The engine rubber mounts are old and falling apart, and the transmission rubber mount is all old and coming right off with a poke of a stick.
How do I put them on? and where can I find the proper ones? Any website that sells them?
Hi,
Check Rockauto, they have a lot of parts for good prices.
Dennis
Local parts stores should have them.
they are also on e-bay, all the time!
yes dozens on ebay ... if the mounts are broken you will have a difficult time removing them as they have a nut on top and bottom .. you will have to find a way to keep the mount from spinning as you try to remove the nut .. perhaps the weight of the engine will hold it in place .. you just need to lift the engine a couple of inches after you pull the upper and lower nuts off .. the trans mount is easier ..
Rock Auto was the only source of a transmission mount and very reasonable. All the other local parts places had to order them and much pricer. Good Luck

I got mine from O'Reilly. Cheaper than dirt...less than $15 for all 3. And this is where the fun began, for me. lol
Lot's of prying, cursing, and jacks involved. In hindsight...save yourself some trouble, and shave a 1/4 inch off the top and bottom studs on the engine mounts. Transmission mount...either wait for the right one, or prepare to drill holes, depending on build date. (early 2.0)
