In 1973 we bought our first Squire, Lime Green Metallic, 4 speed, A/C, & AM/FM. It served our family well for close to 20 years, and in a moment of cloudy thinking, it went to a new home. The modified MPC plastic models shown here are my second & third Squires. These are a bit small, so just last week, a much larger 74 Squire 4 speed joined the family. Its great to once again be a Pinto family. I dont have a photo yet of the new guy, will post later.Â
PS:Â I note the photos are not showing as sharp as they really are, so please click on the link for much clearer photos. Lots of work went into these and only the linked photos do these justice.
Congradulations! Those are some pretty neat looking models.
AWESOME models , being a "modeler" myself, I can tell the work that went into these. Here's my replica of my '74 I currently own

crazyhorse, what kit is that, i have a 74 and would like to do a model of it as well. Also, have you guys checked out briansmodelcars.com? it is a great modelling site.
Yes I have checked Brian's site out. I'm also a member of the forums at www.scaleautomag.com
The kit is an AMT I don't reccommend it, it's not very accurate without a LOT of modifications. If you can find the MPC kit it's a MUCH better deal
Since we are on the subject of models. I have been in contact with a guy that works for Motormax. They are planning to do a diecast model of a Pinto. I sent him about 50 photos of my car. He sent me a couple of models and a carpenters rule to use in the photos. He said his initial presentation was today. I haven't heard anything but will keep all of you posted. I was also told that we could get the web site logo put on some of them. However we would have to buy around 600 to 800. If there is interest then it may be something we could think about. They would cost less than $10 a piece. They are also looking for a Pinto in the So Cal area to measure and take additional photos. It needs to be all stock right down to the hubcaps. Mine is in sweaty St Louis, a long way to travel from Ontario CA. I anyone has one send me an email. tercin@sbcglobal.net
Do you find the kits on ebay? Or have the manufacturers re-released it?
The stock Pinto kits were mostly made only during the model year and are long out of production. eBay is a great source, and after I bought my Squire wagon a few months back, I went to eBay and bought another 1977 MPC station wagon kit. It was all of $25 or so including postage and the kit as factory sealed. I've got a donor MPC 74 hatchback that will give up its front, wheel wells forward, plus its rear bumper. Funny, but its far easier to but a 74 front end on a 77 on a real car than it is on a model!
Speaking of real cars, I'm tempted to lose my tow truck 74 stock front and rear push bumpers and replace with 72's. But, the purist in me will probably prevent it, though easy to undo.
Then have a 72 AND a 74 Squire is better option!
