IS THE SENDING UNIT FROM A 73 WAGON THE SAME AS A 78?!?! MY GAS GAUGE IN MY WAGON IS NOT WORKING, WHEN I HOOK UP A VOLT METER IT BOUNCES ALL OVER FROM .01 TO 8.2 AND EVERY WHERE INBETWEEN, GUESSING THE SENDER IS BAD! I HAVE A 73 TANK WITH SENDER BUT DONT WANT TO DROP MY TANK TO FIND OUT ITS WRONG!!
THANKS GUYS!!
O I KNOW SOME ONE WAS LOOKING FOR A TANK FOR A WAGON I HAVE THE 73 WAGON TANK FOR SALE!!!
TAKE CARE!!!
Is the 73 the same as 74???..
I always heard the wagon tanks are all the same from '71-'80 but the sending units were '71-'74, '75-'78 & '79-'80. I believe the only differences were in the angle of the fuel & vent lines but the senders all read the same 0-73 ohms. I've never swapped any but I really would like to know for sure.
OK THANKS KEITH!!
WILL PULL THE PARTS CARS AND TRY TO GET THE 78'S OUT THIS WEEK END AND CHECK WILL LET YOU GUYS KNOW!!
Going by the parts book
'73 All - '74All - 75/76 2300 - 75/76 2800 - '77 up 2300 - '77 up 2800
So it seems there are 6 different senders for the wagons.

That may be just due to minor changes in the fuel line & vent. The hole in the tank should all be the same size & the sending unit & plug should all be identical. I think Fred may be the only one who may have pics of each type
