Autozone lists Duralast front calipers for a '71 as part number C198 & C199 for $18.99 with a $5 core charge on each. I'm assuming I'm going to need them for my '71 since I doubt the fronts are going to work well after 42 years so I ordered them & the order went through.
Has anyone tried this before & have you got them or did the order get cancelled due to them being unavailable? Advance Auto shows them unavailable & wont process the order with them on it & Autozone wouldn't allow the master cylinder to stay on the order when I tried to get that too.
I hope I get what I ordered.....
I rebuilt the front end on my 73 a couple summers ago and I did the brakes at that time. I was able to find all the brake parts locally but had to order them. The rotors were the most expensive part of the brake rebuild. I am not 100% sure but I want to say I got the majority of the stuff from Autozone.
The rotors looked good on this car as did the calipers but the seals have to be iffy after 42 years. Autozone had calipers, pads & front brake hoses as well as a new heater core. Advance has the correct master cylinder which I still have to order.
I have new wheel cylinders but I seem to remember a post saying the early cars take a smaller version. Maybe I'll swap in the '80 rear if that's the case since it's all new parts anyhow. I also have the rubber rear axle hose but need to make sure it's a match. I have a new radiator, hoses & nearly everything for the engine so other than ball joints, bushings & shocks which I still have to round up there shouldn't be anything left that can break & strand me. (fingers crossed)
The left caliper arrived today. Hopefully the other will come Friday.
