Has this been done? I've got a complete ZX2, so the engine, harnesses and brain are all there.

Considering options for the easiest power upgrade/ ill advised engine swap that I have available.
Front wheel drive engine in to a rear wheel drive car ? It could work have you checked with Burtonpower....The do make some bell housings etc for both the T-9 and the 4 speed....Which way does the Zetec rotate ? It might be cheaper to rebuild your 2.0 and hop up the 2.0...
www.quad4rods.com has the bellhousing needed to convert the zetec to rear wheel drive. it is a pricey part though.
That is not bad for a special none OEM bell housing. Check out the race stuff for 2.3 and V-8's bell housing prices....I checked the site but, they do not have any info about what flywheel to use etc . I guess for a T-5/ I-4 Turbo for example you would use that flywheel clutch etc. For the V-8 T-5 use a V-8 flywheel etc...Some of those horse power numbers are very interesting.... Just think a cheap twincam non EFI monster 2.0 Wait, can someone say cheap Cosworth ? NO Cosworth ain't cheap but a Ztec throw rock hit 20 or so . Hell I saw a few SHO's in a yard......Thanks for the link...

I had looked into this conversion quite a bit, before I decided to do a period correct build on my pinto.
The Type-E 4 speed on your 2.0 will bolt onto the zetec, although it will require a little bit of modification to block the opening created. I believe the original Pinto starter can be used, but will need to be verified as I cannot remember.
The largest hindrance to the zetec on our platform is the cross member and steering rack. You can either go dry sump (dont even have to worry about it then), or pick up the pan from RWD motorsports.
There is plenty of room in the engine bay with it in there, and the opposite intake and exhaust is not an issue (get a short header).

Main engine motor mounts would have to be fabbed up, the zetec mounts at the front of engine not the sides.
Zetecs are wonderful engines, they routinely pop way over 200K miles, you can't kill them except by overheating, the most common way. Most people refuse to learn the fairly simple power flow to the fans and then burn them up. I have three of them.
Hope you got an ignition key to match that PCM, the PATS system will disable the car running if you don't.

You will need a correct PCM and matching chipkey as well..................no mention of that....
